Multivariable Nonlinear Control of Air-Handling Unit in HVAC System: Robust Sliding Mode Control

چکیده :
Abstract—Air-Handling Unit (AHU) as a segment of a Heating, Ventilating, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) system is a device used for filtering the air incoming. In this research, a robust Sliding Mode Control (SMC) for the AHU with three states and two inputs/outputs despite the uncertainty in the parameters is suggested. Both system outputs are controlled by one input while the third output is affected by two inputs. This problem and the ambiguous complexities in nonlinear nature of the AHU make various challenges to control. In the SMC, the AHU state-space representation is considered in two parts and for each section, a control rule is designed to achieve the output with reverse interaction. In this approach, a new sliding surface is presented and the stability of the closed-loop system is proved by the Lyapunov’s theory. The simulation consequences denote proper tracking of time-varying reference routes nevertheless changes in model parameters.
